Solo Performance Festival 3 @ ToJ
This week marks the opening of the third installment of the Solo Performance Festival at Theatre off Jackson. Running through March 21, ToJ is presenting a series of seven different programs devoted to solo performance, from the artsy one-person shows to stand-up comedy to boylesque performance.
Tonight is the second and last night of the Shorties! program of ten short one-person shows. Friday and Saturday nights, writer-performer James Judd presents his long-running show 7 Sins at 8 p.m. Judd, a one-time member of LA's influential Groundlings improv group, has had this show going for ages in San Francisco. Meanwhile, Waxie Moon curates (and performs in) a program dedicated to boylesque at 10 p.m. after Judd's show.
Next Thurs. through Sat., S.P. Miskowski and Morgan Rowe present a new one-person show, my new friends (are so much better than you) at 8. and Fri. and Sat., the People's Republic of Komedy presents stand-up at 10 p.m. And then closing out the fest the week of March 19-21, there's new short works by Waxie Moon, again (he is just that awesome), Keri Healey, Keira McDonald, and Jason MacDonald, returning for the third time to SPF, presents Fall Fair, billed as the "most destructive solo theatre piece in history."
Tickets to all events are $13 in advance or $15 at the door, and series passes should still be available for $45. All events take place at the Theatre off Jackson, 409 Seventh Ave. S., in the International District.
