Twitter Campaign For International Women's Day '09

For those of our readers using Twitter (and we know you are legion, you rascals), you have until the end of the day tomorrow to include the hashtag #apowerfulnoise in a tweet or two for the love of the world's women. For up to 50,000 tagged tweets posted between yesterday and March 5, National Cine-Media's Fathom will donate ten cents to human rights organization CARE.

Why now? International Women's Day is on March 8, and to celebrate, NCM has coordinated nationwide screenings of and discussions about the acclaimed women's rights documentary A Powerful Noise on March 5. It's the first time in the history of Twitter, we're informed, that such a Tweet-a-thon has been organized--and it seems cool enough that we wanted to share this opportunity with you. Here's a complete list of local theaters screening A Powerful Noise tomorrow evening at 8 p.m; the only theater in Seattle proper participating is Pacific Place, downtown.
