HAPPY WASHINGTON WINE HOUR: The Sorrento is marking the Washingtonization of The Hunt Club's previously Californicated wine list with a series of “Winemaker Happy Hours!” every Wednesday in March, with dueling winemakers, their wines, and appetizers--all for just $10. Tonight's guest vintners are Lantz Cellars (Yakima Valley, focus on Bordeaux and Rhone varietals) and Baer Winery (Woodinville, blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot).

5:30 p.m. // The Sorrento Hotel/Hunt Club, 900 Madison Street // $10

HORRIFIC-OPENER BOOK HOUR: Chris Cleave reads from and signs Little Bee, which the Stranger's Paul Constant quit on after the first sentence, which tells you more about Paul Constant than the book. Seattlest Jeremy has a review, coming up this afternoon, so until then we provide you with this note from the publisher: "It is a truly special story and we don't want to spoil it. Nevertheless, you need to know something, so we will just say this: It is extremely funny, but the African beach scene is horrific." Interest piqued? If you go, let us know.

7 p.m. // University Book Store, 4326 University Way NE // FREE

TOHOSCOPE SAMURAI HOUR: If you've been putting it off, Yojimbo is about to ride off into the sunset. The plot of Akira Kurosawa’s 1961 b//w masterpiece can be summed up quickly, but the film's influence has been both broad and deep: "To rid a terror-stricken village of corruption, the wily masterless samurai Sanjuro (Toshiro Mifune) turns a range war between to evil clans to his own advantage." Enjoy that widescreen Tohoscope experience.

7 & 9 p.m. // Grand Illusion Theatre, 1403 NE 50th Street // $8
