I'm certain being a genius has nothing to do with being a mayor as well. And while I did take in your qualifier, I'm so passionate about NOT Savage, I had to say something.

Having seen Troy's sideburns, I agree with his assessment (of his barber).

Agreed, hence my qualifying statement regarding experience. That being said, I'm not sure it takes a genius to be a city mayor.

Just because you agree with someone, doesn't mean you should give them your vote to operate a city of nearly 700k during business hours.

I agree with my barber, but shit, I barely trust him to trim my sideburns, much less put in movement a solution to transportation or density growth.

I'm not saying he'd win, but I'd probably vote for him. I seem to agree with most of his positions, such as equal rights, urban density, mass transit. Maybe a candidate such as him could "remind" Nichols of many of the positions he purportedly holds.

That being said, it is probably wise to at least have some elected position experience (city council, school board, neighborhood council, SOMETHING) before running for mayor.

Dan has his sycophants on Slog telling him how wonderful, smart, witty and charming he is, which no doubt fuels his delusions of grandeur.

As a sex columnist he's peerless. When he tries to be a journalist, a deep thinker or -- heaven help us -- a politician he's pretty much a joke.

The funny thing is, most of the commenters on Slog truly believe he could be elected. Not sure what world they live in.

He can't even run a weekly paper, much less a city.

What an hedonistic, over-rated tool. Much like the Phillips Head screw-driver. I'll accept the pun, too.
