Back during the dot-com meltdown of the early '00s, I lived in San Francisco and worked in Cupertino. The traffic was a great barometer of business conditions.
First, it actually got WORSE as lots of people stopped traveling for work and were commuting instead, and then the traffic dropped off precipitously.
I haven't seen traffic drop off here yet, though.
