Can't Miss It: Wednesday

TOWN HALL TWOSOME: We mentioned yesterday that blogging meteorologist Cliff Mass is showing up at Town Hall tonight (7:30 p.m., $5), but it's a tough choice, because Crosscut's Knute Berger and author Tim Egan are appearing to argue over what we think of as Berger's contrarian Bible: Pugetopolis: A Mossback Takes on Growth Addicts, Weather Wimps, and the Myth of Seattle Nice. God knows you should never take Berger seriously, but it should be entertaining. David Brewster will somehow find the time to moderate.

7:30 p.m. // 8th Avenue & Seneca Street // $5

DRAWING ROOM COMEDY: The UW School of Drama's run of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit ends on March 1, so why not zip out there tonight. The UW Daily review says "it is a long play and relies heavily on dialogue and repartee"--as we recall from seeing it elsewhere a remarried widower ends up haunted by his first wife and a raft of sophisticated banter. Have a highball beforehand.

7:30 p.m. // UW Penthouse Theatre // Tickets: $8-$15

HOW THE ANTS' FACEBOOK WORKS: The talk is titled "Social Networks: How Simple Parts Make Complex Systems" and it's part of the 2009 Edwards Psychology Lecture series at the UW. Sean O'Donnell (UW) and Jennifer Fewell (Arizona State University) have been researching social insects as models for exploring how individual behavior yields complex, adaptive behaviors at the group level. They are looking at new approaches to applying mathematical models of network interactions, not just to describe but to predict and understand complex societies.

7 p.m. // UW Kane Hall, Room 120 // FREE, with RSVP
