MvB is off for a soak in the Germanic misery of Woyzeck Friday night, followed by the power pop of A.C. Newman at Neumos on Saturday, before wrapping the weekend up at an Oscar party on Sunday night. Slumdog for Best Picture.
There's no shortage of options for the beat-seeker tonight, but Donte's going to be spending his Friday at Chop Suey for Broken Disco, headlined by Berlin producer Jona. The only other thing he plans to do this weekend is to make it to Gameworks early enough that he can finally get in some quality time with Street Fighter 4.
Jay is flying home from a week on the east coast and is looking forward to NO meals out, as a stomach bug has made life a little uncomfortable. And you thought being a restaurant reviewer was all glitz and glamour?!?
Before watching the Oscars, Ronald will attend Seattle Opera's double bill, Bartok/Schoenberg. That would be Bela Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle and Arnold Schoenberg's Die Erwartung, two powerful 20th century works that threaten to shake the very foundations of his love for Mozart and Puccini.
David isn't sure where he'll end up tonight, however, if it's anything like the previous few weekends you can catch him at the Cheesecake Factory bar.
Jack is happy to report that tomorrow may be a no jacket kind of day at Crystal Mountain. If the sun comes out to play, you'll likely find him having a beer on the patio in between runs. Sunday morning he and the Missus are off to the Northwest Flower and Garden Show for a few hours before heading to a friend's house for Oscar festivities. Slumdog for the win.
As the weather brightens, albeit maybe only temporarily, Tom's thoughts turn to ripping more stock elements away from his car and bolting or gluing on more things that were never meant to be attached an automobile. In reality, though, he'll likely spend much of the weekend curling up with some stimulating readings on phenomenology, hermeneutics, and complexity theory...or maybe nuzzling up to researching digital archives.
Audrey is definitely going to have a movie-filled weekend, what with Lola Montes at SIFF tonight, a screening of Everlasting Moments tomorrow, and the Oscars on Sunday. Somewhere in there, she needs to figure out when exactly to see both Ballast and Medicine for Melancholy during their run this week at the Northwest Film Forum.
