There He Goes, See You Later, Griffey Is [Not Yet] a Brave.

[UPDATE: We have never been this excited to be so wrong. Griffey is coming to Seattle, and we have a smile from ear to ear!]

[UPDATE: Griffey says he hasn't decided yet. However, we are definitely not optimistic, and tend to agree with a Geoff Baker theory that Griffey doesn’t want to go public until it’s a done deal.]

Despite the ten million media members who reported that Ken Griffey Jr. was coming back to Seattle (seriously, a slow clap for all of you), he is heading to Atlanta.

We have to think that the deciding factor was playing an hour from his family in Orlando.

So for all of you screaming at the Mariners front office, it’s hard to blame ownership for the geographical location of Seattle.

However, if they hadn’t stepped in and bought the team in 1992, then it would have been moved to Tampa, which is even closer to Griffey’s home than Atlanta. Damn you, Howard Lincoln.

We are pretty bummed about how this whole thing ended up, and would have selfishly loved to see Griffey in a Mariners uniform one more time. Okay "loved" is an understatement, we're just afraid to type the word that we would more accurately use.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we have to go into another room and throw things at the wall. Then we are going to start an online petition for a Mariners revenge signing.

I'm sick and tired of professional athletes who choose their family's happiness over mine.

We, the fans, pay their livelihood. Their families are nothing but moochers.

You just hold on a second, bub: "Griffey said he heard about the story and sent a text message to Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik and CEO Howard Lincoln, telling them that the report was not accurate."
