PETA Sea Kittens Expire on Pike Street

PETA is concerned that fish aren't lovable enough for people to stop eating them, so they have cooked up the "sea kitten" campaign to reframe the argument for vegetarianism. Today a group of them were downtown raising consciousnesses--primarily that of males with camera phones, we're going to guess. We don't particularly care for fish sticks, but if they plan on messing with the tuna on our salade niçoise, we have a problem.

You might think that PETA and NARN and their ilk would recognize that pseudo-terrorist, street-theater tactics are counterproductive. But their ilk have all the sense of a non-sentient eggplant. Boil them in lard and eat them, sez I.

If sea-kittens are so tasty, it makes wonder if those land-kittens are too.

Just goes to show that compassion is sexy. Anyone that speaks up for voiceless creatures has got my respect.

Sally Struthers was never sexier.

so that's what that was all about! i saw the group ahead of me traipsing up pike near the convention center before they ducked into cyber dogs. this was right after i'd scarfed down *gulp* a tuna melt at georgio's. sorry sea kittens - you haven't yet elicited the empathy from me that furry creatures do...

See, here's the problem, PETA. I saw those sea kitten ladies and thought, "I'd eat that."

i'm restating what someone above said:
"Just goes to show that compassion is sexy. Anyone that speaks up for voiceless creatures has got my respect."
i also saw these girls at cyberdogs (i live a block away) on my way downtown and was wondering what they were a part of. good for them AND the fish!

Cyberdogs is vegetarian. Those hot dogs were made of "soy kittens."

I'm not a supporter of peta, but if ever before there were given a compelling speech about protecting sea creatures, it pales in comparison to this one recently given by Sylvia Earle at the live opening ceremonies of TED 2009. It is simply breathtaking in it's scope and depth, as the oceans themselves.
