Abbey is off to Jules Maes for tater tots and Rock 'n' Roll...what's more romantic than that?
Amy says dining out on February 14th is risky, not risqué--plus, this might be the year to go just for dessert. She's going to a "cabaret type thing" at the Century Ballroom instead. No idea what to expect except that she won't be the only one wearing fishnets.
Anyone can go to Turkey, but a true sign of your devotion is a drive to West Seattle, which is why David and his Special Touch Friend will be dining at Ephesus, then dessert, wine, and if all goes well, 30 Rock on the TiVo.
Celebrating Valentine's Day is a sucker's game, but this year Donte is willing to honor the Hallmark holiday early--on Friday the 13th--with a simple date night: dinner at La Carta de Oaxaca followed by a viewing of Coraline. On Valentine's Day proper, he's meeting up with friends for brunch and otherwise avoiding the mayhem.
If the sun is shining Jack and his love buddy will likely hop on the Edmonds to Kingston ferry for a midday pilgrimage to J'aime les Crepes Creperie. If you've never been, it's a quaint little creperie located just up from the ferry terminal with more savory and sweet crepe options than you can shake a spatula at. Regardless of whether or not they make that trip, a home-cooked meal and a bottle of red will surely be in order.
James et famille are going to continue their annual Valentine's tradition of staying the hell away from restaurants and cooking at home. Long ago, a friend in the service industry mentioned that the two worst days to visit a restaurant are Valentine's and Mother's Day--restaurants are too busy to be experienced at their best. A couple of ho-hum Valentine's Day dinners out later and James took his point to heart.
Jay recommends Chez Shea as a cozy, romantic resto for V-Day, but also sees the romance in enjoying a nice home-cooked meal, and heading out to your favorite restaurants another day.
Katelyn is in Turkey. (ZOMG! Lucky!) She and her friend Erin and will probably be attending the ballet Carmen in Antalya. Afterwards she is going to try to convince Erin to go out and meet some hot mustachioed Turkish men. Erin will not go for that plan but it's worth a shot.
Kim is flying solo this year (boo-hoo) but she's still going to ToST for Miss Mamie Lavona the Exotic Mulatta and her White Boy Band's annual birthday show.
MvB has his heart set on some lovely margaritas--las bebidas de pasión--at the Cha Cha, before spending a heart-stopping evening in Noir City.
Ronald will morph into his Italian alter ego, Ronaldo!, and pour prosecco, amarone, and limoncello for guests at Sorrentino, the family-owned trattoria on Queen Anne whose family adopted him when he was a homeless waif. Now, that's romance!
