TIMELY LESSON: With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's only fitting that Inara George and Greg Kurstin are bringing their sexy, breathy version of jazz-influenced indie pop to Chop Suey tonight. An hour and a half of George's luscious vocals making sweet love to your ears will prove an invaluable lesson come Saturday. The Bird and the Bee take the stage tonight after a set by Obi Best.

DATE MOVIE: The weepy teenage girl in you demands you take her to the Central Cinema tonight to wallow in blissful misery and watch Sixteen Candles, the Ally Sheedy Molly Ringwald masterpiece!

IMPRESSIVE DATE MOVIE: Teenie flicks of the eighties not cutting it for you? Well, SIFF, as to be expected, can kick it up a notch for you with Bluebeard's Castle. A film made for German TV by the legendary directory Michael Powell, Bluebeard's Castle is an opera by Bela Bartok about a man who must explain to his current wife the fates of her seven predecessors. With expressionistic sets by Hein Heckroth. Powell transforms Bartok's opera into a swirling phantasmagoria. Also, there's a post-screening discussion with the Seattle Opera education staff.

MURDER. CITY. DEVILS.: What doesn't this band have? They got an awesome name and balls-to-the-walls rock 'n' roll. Tonight's gig down at the Showbox/Market is already sold-out, but there's a chance you can snag some over-priced tickets off Craigslist.
