Seattlest Poll: How Unchurchy Are We?
Walking down Broadway, we smiled at the thought of these boots as evidence of some Raptured soul, but then wondered if, really, a pair of boots here and there is all we might see anyway. Odds seem pretty good.
Capitol Hill ought to be the acme of Northwest atheism, with Mars Hill's 8,000-strong believers as an aside.
Seattle itself is famously unchurched, not to say outright atheist. The 2001 American Religious Identification Survey (ARIS) survey found a nation-leading 25 percent of Washingtonians skipped pews entirely, and a quick look for more recent stats suggests they haven't been back to Sodom Northwest since.
We're curious if much has changed, so it's time for a poll!
