Little Big Band Talks Respect, Honor, and Action
After seeing the recently announced lineups for Coachella and Bonnaroo, one thing was pretty clear: both lineups are strong, but altogether there's only a couple Seattle bands playing at either fest.
Coachella's got Fleet Foxes (natch) and Band of Horses, the latter of which only count as .5 Seattle band, since they're originally from here, but are now based in South Carolina. And....that's it, um, unless Paul McCartney or Morrissey is actually from Seattle. As to Bonnaroo, which announced its lineup today, the only Seattle-ish band seems to be Band of Horses (yes, again). Does Neko Case kinda qualify? Blitzen Trapper and Brian Jonestown Massacre are from Portland, so that counts, right? Huh, HUH? We got nothing.
On the other hand, Miami's annual Langerado Music Fest, which was to feature a couple Seattle bands (Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse), has just been cancelled due to sluggish ticket sales. Tickets for Coachella are already on sale, and tickets for Bonnaroo are available starting this Saturday. (Incidentally, you know that times are tough when Coachella tix are available on layaway and Bonnaroo allows you to pay in installments.)
