Can't Miss It: Tuesday

"Seattle Tattoo Expo" by Abbey Simmons. This girl totally likes metal.
CACOPHONY: British extreme metal band Cradle of Filth, Norwegian black metal group Satyricon, and Greek death metal band Septic Flesh will converge upon the Showbox at the Market tonight for a riotous, maybe-possibly Satanic, soul-chillingly shockerrific celebration of the dark side this evening. Wear your cutest black leather/nose chain combo and hit up that mess; don't forget your ear plugs.

7 p.m. // Showbox At The Market // $25

GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS: James Kugel is a controversial Orthodox Jewish Bible scholar, beloved at Harvard University for his funny asides during lectures on what could be the driest of subjects. The topic tonight: "Has Biblical Research Killed The Bible?" We're wagering his answer will be a resounding, well-argued "No."

6:30 p.m. // University of Washington, Kane Hall // Free

ESSENTIAL INGREDIENTS: Erica Bauermeister, local author and professor of writing and literature at the University of Washington, reads from her first novel at World Wide Books tonight. The book, The School of Essential Ingredients, will be reviewed later today on Seattlest; for now, we'll just say we enjoyed it enough to recommend you hear Bauermeister talk about it in person.

7 p.m. // World Wide Books // Free
