"Crossroads" by Kim

The intersection of Boren and Pine has been our favorite intersection in the world ever since we moved here and discovered it for ourselves. It is such for precisely the reason that Kim (aka Seattle Daily Photo) mentions: the streets "create a giant floating X over I-5." It's an intersection of two bridges! It's vaulted into the air!! It's sloped!!! We convulse with excitement as we shout these reasons when making our case; people give us the weird eye. We've taken many photos of it from many angles. However, not a single one of ours simultaneously captures both its sublime, understated beauty as well as its place in the larger context of the street grid. Thank you for sharing this amazing photo among all of the other amazing photos!

But actually having to cross this intersection will make you hate it.

  • Dude, shouldn't you just walk or take mass transit? tsktsk.

I despise this intersection. Too hard to navigate if you are from out of town. And the waiting at the light takes for everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Wow, that is a really great shot, you can even see the Cascades back there. I have to say though, this over the highway feat of structural wonder pales in comparison to Freeway park, a mere 500 feet away. Ah Seattle, where gouging through a metropolitan area with a highway actually works.
