Brandon Roy Is Opening Act for Huge Game
We split our Husky season tickets with friends, and before the season we picked Saturday’s UCLA game, and they got tonight’s USC contest.
Stupid us.
Not only are we missing the pre-game retirement of Brandon Roy’s jersey, number three in the rafters and number one in your hearts, but we are also missing the biggest game of the weekend.
For weeks Bracketology has had four Pac 10 teams listed as "in."
So if Cal, UCLA, and Arizona State are the top three, then UDub is probably battling with Stanford, Arizona, and USC for one or two spots, making tonight’s game bigger than Saturday’s UCLA match-up.
USC’s leading scorer Dwight Lewis is questionable and hopefully Trojan coach Tim Floyd hasn’t spoken end-of-game strategy with President Obama.
From Bud Withers’ article on the First Brother-in-Law, Oregon State Coach Craig Robinson:
On Jan. 4, after OSU upended USC and broke a 21-game conference losing streak Shortly after the game, [Robinson’s] cellphone rang--Barack Obama, congratulating him and wondering why USC didn't foul down the stretch to protect a three-point lead against the tying shot.
Brandon Roy, a tournament spot up for grabs, and a coach that has earned the scorn of Obama.
Sigh. We’ll be watching on TV, FSN and FSN-HD (channel 627).
