Can't Miss It: Tuesday
ANTIOXIDANTS WILL SAVE YOUR SOUL: Cherie Calbum might not, upon further examination, go that far. But she's really, really, really excited about the possibilities of making and drinking one's own juice--and about sleeping away your pounds, and about coconut as the secret ingredient to everything good in life (we agree with her on that last part). Head over to Town Hall to see what all the fuss is about; who knows, maybe you'll have a fruit combination epiphany that will improve your weekend smoothies exponentially.
7:30 p.m. // Town Hall // $5
THEY'RE NOT ALIVE: Some of the thousands of dolls at the Museum of Doll Art in Bellevue sure look like they are, though. One of our favorite birthday parties as a little girl involved a trip to the Doll Museum (and a beautiful pink homemade Barbie cake, but let's not talk about that). Have a kid? Take him or her. Don't have a kid? Just go by yourself or with your adventurous date--trust us, it's just really cool in there and you'll probably come away with inspiration for a creepy short story or three.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. // Museum of Doll Art // $8 for adults
GALILEO'S HEAD WAS ON THE BLOCK: Dava Sobel has been writing her entire professional life, she notes on her website. She's a scientist who has also been blessed with the ability to communicate gracefully via written word, and that makes her invaluable to those of us who are interested in science and the history thereof but don't necessarily love numbers (Seattlest is pointing at herself, here). Sobel is giving a lecture at Kane Hall tonight on the subject of Galileo and the International Year of Astronomy.
6:30 p.m. // UW, Kane Hall (directions) // Free
