"Rescue Fido" Fashion Show this Weekend
Seattlest is broadening our horizons--to the runways. Not Boeing, couture. Yes, we're taking a good long look at Seattle's fashion community. No, we do have one. Srsly. And Cameron Levin is going to write about the goings-on for us. Here's her inaugural post, which as it happens is about one of the more unusual fashion events in Seattle.
Canine couture from Idawg
Seattle Dog Winterfest's "Rescue Fido" fashion show is a benefit for the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation and Ginger's Pet Rescue. Cesar "I hear dogs whisper" Millan is the host. Honestly, we're not sure why American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis is performing. Do dogs like beatbox?
Besides a doggie talent competition, shopping, and lectures, there's the fashion show, with dozens of designers are on the bill (and Seattle's own Idawg, from whom we lifted the accompanying pic). Looks range from the functional--waterproof vests and cozy jackets--to Paris Hilton-ish ridiculosity--think doggy slippers, tutus, hoodies. So, will Cesar be counseling the dogs after the show?
We relish opportunities like these when we can experience Seattle's fashion culture in all its nonconformist, quirky glory, so we lift our glasses and tip our hats--and our dogs lift their legs--to Seattle Dog Winterfest and fashion freedom!
You can't make this stuff up, people. A live fashion show plus livestock equals real entertainment, and it's only $10 for general admission. (There's a meet-and-greet and dinner with Cesar sold separately.) It's this Saturday and Sunday at the Bell Harbor Convention Center, 10-5 p.m.
