Yesterday, faced with a rare workday afternoon with not much to do, Seattlest decided to go for a long walk. Our initial goal was to make it to Golden Gardens in time for sunset, followed by happy hour at Ray's. We knew that was kind of a pipe dream because it was 2:30 by the time we got this crazy idea, and we live on First Hill. Instead, we decided to aim for Golden Gardens and just see how far we could get, figuring Gasworks Park was maybe more realistic.
Aside from wishing we'd opted for our running shoes rather than a pair of practically soleless Teva slip-ons, it was a pretty lovely walk. Our route: Broadway to Roanoke, over the University Bridge, then pick up the Burke and follow it to Fremont. We made it to Gasworks just barely in time for sunset, then parked it at Dad Watson's for some beers. There, we met a couple of friendly strangers, who brainstormed with us on chili making tips and were, overall, just good company.
Before we left on our little improvised journey, Seattlest Katelyn beckoned that we bring along a camera to document our travels. We did as we were told, and now share with you the sights of the route.

Around The -Ists This Week

What a neat idea! I need to take more photos when I walk- I walk about half of that route pretty frequently :) Thanks for posting!
