You Got Your Hummer in my BMW!

SnowHummer.JPG

We had just noted that the temperature was 27 degrees this evening, and the roads were shiny, when we saw two luxury cars kissing bumpers on Roy Street. It was just a little surprising to see that one was a Hummer, and all the 4WD in the world hadn't helped. Now that's slippery.

I saw these düdes parking...the only reason the beemer didn't slide down roy is because the 18-inch alloys are ground *firmly* into the curb.

Perhaps this is the SUV equivalent of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

For those of you old enough to remember the original commercials, anyway.

I've seen more SUVs struggling than anything else.

I almost got killed by a Suburban in front of the Kid Valley on lower QA.

So the buyers of said cars have to ask themselves, "Why exactly did I buy this big fucking gas gusseling, shitty resale value American SUV for in the first place if the thing is worthless in bad weather?"

The all wheel drive sedans seem to do the best (Subarua and Audi) because they are low to the ground, relatively heavy and aren't shitty cars to begin with.

Yes, the most snow-friendly vehicle in the world won't help you if the driver doesn't know how to use it correctly.

    dear hummer:

slick roads + massive weight = more inertia for your brakes to overcome to stop.

    fail.

    your friend,

    srsly

  • Rookie mistake, Mr. Hummer Driver. 4WD doesn't help you much in snow, because you get no extra traction.
