Jamba Out of Juice in Queen Anne

jamba%20juice.JPGJust one week left for the Jamba Juice location on Queen Anne. We loved them when we first learned about them, but it seems like a long time since we've partaken in their protein powders and Peach Pleasures.

With a new year approaching, we're wondering what we'd like to see move into the vacated store. What would bring a little spark to the kinda conservative Queen Anne culinary scene?

Hmm...how about a pho place, like Than Brothers? (Yes, there's pho at the bottom of the hill, but nothing at the top.) A real New York style pizza place? (Might as well dream about New York bagels, too, or a New York style deli.) Something ethnically interesting? Please?

Our fear: It'll turn into another coffee joint. Maybe a smoothie/juice joint isn't so bad after all.

I would love some good and not too expensive indian food...pho is also a good idea. ooh i know! another red mill!

i think i only went to that jamba juice once or twice in my over three years of living on top of queen anne, but for some reason i am sad to see it go.

If you're dying for a smoothie there's that new place that's across from the 5 Spot. Every time I walk by it they look desperate for customers.

I'm hoping for something simple and unpretentious. With Opal and How To Cook A Wolf and Portage all within spitting distance, I'd love to see something basic.

That's too bad, I liked this Jamba Juice. I'd do into Noah's grab a few bagels and get my Orange Dream Machine from Jamba.

I'd love pho, but something other than Than Bros. It'll probably be a sandwich shop or a frozen yogurt place. Those seem to be sprouting everywhere.

I used to love Noahs, then I worked there for too long and now I only love the pumpkin bagels.

Does Noah's make bagels? Is that what those things are?

Oh, they're not bad, I suppose. If I stop comparing things to NY.

Chris, I agree: something less pretentious. I want a hole-in-the-wall place on the top of Queen Anne! (Maybe Malena's counts?)

You know what would make me happy up there? If for whatever reason (and, really, they don't have one) Other Coast Cafe decided to open up top of the hill. I'd never leave.

But, hell, anything that continues the trend of Tully's being replaced by Teacup would be wonderful.

Noah's are great for biking. When you're on a long ride, you need to eat fast, and chewing caloric air is your best bet.

In Seattle, the best bagels I've found are Bagel Oasis at NW 65th.

Bilco, I'm there.

And Jay, it may do some good to stop comparing things to NY and NYC. The other coast is... well, different.

But to admit, I have never had an authentic NYC bagel. So Noah's is the best I got.

Yeah, I know I have to stop...sometime. Waaaaaa!

(But once you have a NY bagel, you'll understand.)

My dream is open a xiao long bao or takoyaki shop in a space like that. And I'll do make them authentically!

Another piece of my history bites the dust -- this Jamba Juice was the site of my first non-babysitting job.

As for what my childhood neighborhood needs--i'd heed the calls for a proper hole in the wall on Queen Anne (save the delicious Malena's). Or maybe Linda's next pseudo-hole-in-the-walls with killer sweet potatoe fries and pitchers of mimosas.

I would happily install a hole in that wall if I had capital and know-how.

In the meantime, can Linda try a different formula, please?
