Q13 Takes Investigative Reporting Too Far

Q13, our local softcore right-wing television station, has made a bold move in the reporting of our faltering local economy by actually filing for bankruptcy themselves. Well, the parent of KCPQ-TV, the Chicago-based Tribune Co., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today, which means we might soon be seeing creditors face off in no-holds-barred cage matches on upcoming Jerry Springer shows. Our money is on Judge Karen, by the way.

Who knew bankruptcy could have so many spammy marketing opportunities?

I'll rest easy knowing that tomorrow's lineup of "Judge Mathis: Assaulted by a candy bar", "Judge Karen: Woman sues for ruined dress", "Cops: Officers chase man with crossbow", "Cops: Sting operation targets drug buyers", "Jerry Springer: Stealing Family Members' partners", "Steven Wilkos: Woman confesses to killing baby", and "Maury: Men take lie detector tests" will still be airing as scheduled.

    I wasn't sure what I'd do otherwise.

Uh, gee, SK111, doesn't the post say it's your parent company? And I think we all understand that bankruptcy protection doesn't mean all operations cease. The planes didn't fall out of the sky when half the airline industry went bankrupt a while back.

Oh, and Washington's Most Wanted sounds like it was worth the money.

We want to ensure that you have the facts correct in reporting today’s news about Tribune Company filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Several local media outlets are reporting that Q13 FOX has filed for bankruptcy. The fact is it’s our parent company, Tribune Company in Chicago, that made this move today. Q13 FOX continues to operate as normal—it’s not for sale, and it’s continuing to broadcast all its regular news, sports and entertainment programs. Q13 FOX is the only Seattle television station that has not been affected by layoffs during this economic downturn and, in fact, we’ve actually expanded our news programming to include a one-hour nightly 9pm newscast and a half hour weekly program “Washington’s Most Wanted”.

    Thanks.
