Can't Miss It: Monday
TITANS: A pair of musical giants are hitting town today: At Key Arena, Metallica rocks the house. Sure, Death Magnetic might blow, and sure, Kirk Hammett & co. are getting pretty old, but somehow, they've managed to sell out the house. Scalpers are busy at it, though, so if you've got $250 (going price at Craigslist) you can still score a pair of tix. Then, down at the lamentable Showbox SoDo, iconic rap group Wu-Tang Clan are kickin' out the beats. Or whatever it is they do. Tickets are still available for a far more reasonable $40 a pop.

READING FRENZY: Up at Town Hall, Jon Meacham comes speaking about his book American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House. Meacham, the editor of Newsweek, makes a passionate case for Andrew Jackson's lasting influence, which he apparently thinks is good. We've always loathed Jackson, but there you go: we can't say we like Newsweek much more. Also, over at Elliott Bay Books, Riki Ott speaks about her new book Not One Drop: Betrayal and Courage in the Wake of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, which will probably be depressing but is more worth the effort to get to than to hear about another blockbuster presidential biography.

WINTER FESTIVUS: Oh, Winterfest! Every year, we intend to go then never do. But if you're the sort of person who does make it, today's a nice day. Head down to Seattle Center at five for "Luminata," the lovely lighting all around the grounds, or head over to the Center House for the first installment of the college performance series, where the Cornish College Chamber Music Ensemble will be performing starting at five. And best part: It's all free.
