Stalk of the Town: Thanksgiving Edition

Thanksgiving dinnerAbbey will be heading to her folks' house for a full-on family Thanksgiving feast. For the first time ever, she'll be helping in the kitchen, attempting to make some of her Mom's delicious recipes. She's thinking she'll take her chances on the delectable brussels sprouts dish. After the family feast, she'll head over to the Blue Moon for its Thanksgiving festivities, where she hopes to enjoy some whiskey with friends. On Friday, she'll luxuriate on the precipice of a long weekend.

Bucking the turkey trend, Jay will make a pilgrimage across the water to Bellevue to eat a spicy Sichuan dinner with friends at Bamboo Garden. He doesn't need giblets hiding in stuffing and gravy. Bring on the organ meats!

Dan is waiting until tomorrow to make the trek north to Bellingham for Thanksgiving with his adopted West Coast family, but it looks like he'll be traveling in style on the short bus.

MvB is making a pilgrimage to his parents' house, bearing a hand-made pumpkin pie, on Thanksgiving Day. He will exchange the pie for a few dozen eggs from the chickens that skulk about the outskirts of the lawn avoiding aerial predators. They produce amazing eggs not sold in any store with vibrant orange-yellow yolks that sit up, stretch, and jump head-first into a greased skillet. In the evening, he will thank god for Scotch.

After years of vegetarianism, Kim looks forward to preparing her first Thanksgiving turkey. Following the parade and a very long round of phone calls home, she'll spend the day with her smart friend watching football, cooking enough food for 30 people, and serving it up to three or four. Hungover and twice as fat, she'll head to the Nutcracker on Friday. Then she'll round out the weekend with a couple parties and a trip to Benaroya Hall.

Audrey will be enjoying a gourmet Thanksgiving meal in Fall City, provided that said locale actually exists. She remains unconvinced.

Grateful for some quality family time, Katelyn will hop in her hoopty and squeal her way up to the wilds of unincorporated Snohomish County on Thursday morning. The traditional holiday morning quiche and freshly roasted coffee await her there, and later her grandparents from Puyallup will arrive with what promises to be another beautiful, grandma-fueled Thanksgiving feast. Lengthy conversations about church politics involving surreal, off-topic puns will likely ensue.

NutcrackerRonald is cooking up his share of the family dinner (three families, this year, it seems): red cabbage, broccoli casserole, sausage stuffing. Next day, he and Kim will attend the Nutcracker. Over & out.

Maybe his sister can't cook, but her roommate sure can. Therefore, Jack will set his sails for exotic Federal Way for an evening of food, games, and avoiding Winco at all costs. He'll bring the oh-so-yummy sweet potato casserole.

Virgin Thanksgiving hostess Amy is an ardent vegetarian, so her mother-in-law will be arriving with a cooked turkey for the blended-family repast. Amy will do her part by chilling the Grey Goose for the dirty martinis. It's 2 ounce vodka, 1 tbsp dry vermouth, 2 tbsp olive juice, 2 olives. Have one; you'll be thankful you did.
