Will Bad Music Ruin Seahawks Remaining Spirit?

Seattle’s athletic misfortunes may be embarrassing, but at least we aren’t hosting the Jonas Brothers for the Thanksgiving Day halftime show.

During a September loss to the 49ers, Hawks fans rocked out to three quarters of Alice in Chains between losing halves. Our team may suck, but at least we know how to rock. What’s Dallas’s excuse?

The Jonas Brothers could be the wimpiest, most off-demographic musical pairing for a professional sporting event since NBA commissioner and major league asshole David Stern slotted country sensation Big and Rich to play the All-Star Game.

We understand Texas is controlled by Fox, which is broadcasting the game, and that the Jonas Brothers are probably jointly represented through some unholy corporate marriage of Fox and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones; still the lameness of the choice should not go ignored.

Football fans and haters of teeny-pop crap, which we generously assume Dallas will have in attendance, don’t want boy bands between 30-minute sets of freakish gladiators tearing into each other at high speeds. It’s like having a porn intermission during church--they don’t complement each other. Football fans want Sabbath, they want Alice in Chains, they want something heavy, they want to see the Jonas Brothers decapitated, not lip-syncing.

But no, the corporate muscle persists with their lame attempts at cross-marketing, and the fans in Dallas are left with the embarrassment of a misplaced gig. Suckers. Seattle may not be a winner, but at least we listen to people who were.

I don't dislike Charlie, there's just something about banjos and starbucks together that kills me. It's the marriage of images.

Your right about crappy music. But, I am bummed by the picture and the tag line to it.

That is Charlie Beck, the banjo player for the local Old Time music and busker band called the Tallboys. He is an amazing banjo player and singer.

If you wanna call him wimpy, well thats your choice, but do a bit o research and maybe post a link. They play many local events and Square dances, as well as play for family shows like the Ridge Romp in the Phinny - Wood area.

oh and here's the Tallboys link:
