Redwood Has that Evergreen Feel

BarBeerPour.jpgWe were making fun of Seattle magazine last week for always coming late to the party, but we have to give them credit for their "discovery" of Redwood:

    Best 200-Year-Old Bar
    Redwood
    Capitol Hill, 514 E Howell St.; 206.329.1952
The sad--or happy--fact is that a lot of Capitol Hill drinkers are still the dark about Redwood's existence. It rose triumphant from the metaphorical ashes of a Duds 'n' Suds laundromat, and offers home cookin' worth blogging home about, plus the sweet potato fries which are de rigeur these days.

The happy hour menu features pulled pork sliders ($5) to cheer up a thin stomach and/or wallet, and you can throw peanut shells on the floor for some reason. The interior is beat-up, mismatched, and homey (assuming your home was also beat-up and mismatched), in the way that a Linda's is a shade too practiced at.

However, do remember that everyone at Yelp has been there before you, and act accordingly.

You and Yogi Berra, jessejb. ("Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded.") While I understand the appeal of the undiscovered, I do not begrudge the owners of any restaurant the opportunity to actually make some money in this collapsing economy. Go where you like and support the people who have created it for you.

    How crazy.

I was going to have dinner at The Saint the weekend before last and we couldnt get in. Oh yeah, a lame Seattle publication ruined it.

Went to the Redwood instead and had no problem getting in to mow down some pulled pork and drink the Oly and 'Crow special in under 20 seconds (its true..Im a rockstar). And now Seattle magazine wants to kill it too?

Where we 'sposta go now? This is getting ridiculous.
