Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, Nov. 21-23
MONSTER MASH: Everyone's favorite non-robotic, non-dinosar body of awesome, a.k.a. the ferocious, hard-banging electronica/hiphop group Truckasaurus, is playing at Neumos with Head Like A Kite and Slender Means on Saturday. Heads up--Truckasaurus might be a band and not a car-eating machine, but they can still metaphorically smash your face in with their thumping, crunching, stomping version of music. It's beautiful, too. Imagine that!
8 p.m., Saturday // Neumos // $8 // 21+
A PROMISE IS A PROMISE: Dr. Pepper told the world they would give everyone in America free sodas if Guns N Roses released their long-awaited album, Chinese Democracy, in 2008. Lo and behold, Democracy is set to drop on Sunday--and Dr. Pepper's keeping their promise, garnering them endless PR points. Take advantage of the deal and go to their website to cash in on that fated day.

GRAMMAR RODEO: Annex Theatre is having what sounds like a potentially crazy high-school-themed Homecoming Party to raise some money this weekend. You should be there to vote for King and Queen and to get drunk at their cash bar (unlike at your own high school homecoming dance, where you had to settle for getting drunk covertly when the chaperones weren't looking). Finally, whatever a Grammar Rodeo is, it sounds like something we want to see.
7 p.m., Saturday // Annex Theatre // $10
BECAUSE REHAB ENDS EVENTUALLY: We're hearing raves from all corners for Rachel Getting Married, the indie flick currently playing at the Egyptian about the black-humored, bad-choices woman who returns from rehab for her sister's wedding and all the family craziness that ensues. It's fall, and we're back in love with movies; do the classic Friday night date thing and eat dinner at a nice restaurant (Olivar, perhaps?), then go to the 9 p.m. showing of this movie.
Times Vary, Fri - Sun // The Egyptian Theatre // $9.50
