No one's saying anything, but the clouds look pretty dark for the mall's current owners. The Wall Street Journal reports that Chicago's General Growth Properties have hired very specific legal help, bringing on "the law firm Sidley Austin as bankruptcy counsel while it negotiates with lenders for more time to restructure its $27 billion debt load." If Westlake isn't the market already, the auction block is becoming a distinct possibility.

McGinn is Mayor

I thought it already was for sale?

That's what the minority owner said. But GGP is the majority owner, and they will neither confirm nor deny a sale. Of course, it looks like they have bigger fish to fry than just a single property.
Maybe a new owner would replace that wretched food court. I know, redundant.
Bilco! That "wretched food court" is the only place you can get Dairy Queen desserts in Seattle proper anymore. Every other location is a 20 minute drive. For god's sake! Think of the peanut buster parfaits! Won't someone think of the peanut buster parfaits?
Okay, you can keep that DQ, but ditch the Sbarro's for something local (and better). Zeek's or Pagliacci should be able to handle the volume. And at least 50% of the rest could be lost without anyone shedding a tear.
didn't that dairy queen close?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
That's it. Neutron bomb the whole floor and start from scratch!
Mmmm...'70s summer Harrisonville Dairy Queen. I was the too tall 8 year old ordering the marshmallow sundaes every week. What were my parents thinking?
Anyway, is the Hot Dog place with the lemonade still there?
