Seattlest: Frank Chopp's Megaduct Proposal

The whole idea of having any type of lovely space around the viaduct is a joke. Has Chopp ever spent any time near this thing? It's so bloody loud that the main thing you want to do is vacate the area. I'm sure a modern one would be somewhat quieter, but I can't imagine it actually being pleasant

troy will you pls. run for mayor? or something? that's a GREAT idea.. honestly though i really don't like the ppl who hate on the viaduct so much, and detest those who insist that a surface option is the only way to go...i invite them to try out my proverbial shoes, living on the west side of phinney ridge and driving to renton 5 days a week for work. try doing THAT without the viaduct/a car. it would BLOW.

Honestly, I like the Viaduct. Yeah, it was ugly as shit, but still... it's a great way to see the Sound and the City while coming in from the South. Coming in from the North is sad and even scary (to some, not me-- steel nerves). How about this: We tear the sucker down and build and shorter one-- two lanes each way and in the middle goes a FUCKING TRAIN on it's way from W. Seattle to Ballard. Under it can be parking.
