KJR-AM Becomes 50% Less Relevant

In what might be the biggest sports media announcement in Seattle in decades, there's a new sports-talk radio station in town!! (Cue crickets.) 710 KIRO will soon become 710 ESPN Seattle. The station recently shifted its news-talk lineup to FM sister station 97.3. We can barely believe there's demand for one all-sports station in town, and given all the pro bono PSAs we've been hearing on KJR since the election, local advertisers apparently agree. Congratulations KJR! You've been "Tully'd."

BigGreenFrank, we still have KEXP :)

I'm all for another sports station if it means more live events get aired in the area. Don't need any more sports yakking personally.

    Agree with partyfernandez.

Does Seattle no longer have an oldies station?

KJR FM and it's 60's/70's stuff doesn't quite do it for me.

I love KJR and I'm sure to love 710 ESPN. I have been craving another sports radio station here in Seattle and 710 news is so crappy in the morning (constant commercials with Ilrelavant traffic updates, NPR is way better). Problem is, Seattle needs some good sports teams.

i just miss my freakin' oldies station.....total bullshit

Say what you will, but having the World Series on radio to a wide listening audience is a good thing.

Of course, I'm presuming we need an out-of-Seattle feed because the M's haven't been in the World Series since.... exactly when was it?
