Wednesdays are $4.99 burger days at the Deluxe Bar & Grill on Broadway, down by the Harvard Exit. You have to purchase a beverage (not necessarily beer), but then you can choose from the Tillamook cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, gardenburger, bacon-onion-avocado burger, mushroom-and-swiss burger, BBQ burger, bleu cheese burger, and chicken burger.
These are not Quinn's or Smith burgers; the bun is unremarkable, there's nothing heirloom about the two tomato slices, there's a single leaf of fresh lettuce. But they come with those magical Deluxe fries, and as you look around you realize that everyone else in the restaurant is eating a burger, too. So your herd instinct is satisfied, which is nice, because you're eating cow.
We would be remiss if we didn't point out that Wednesdays are also two-for-one burger night at the blue-collar/divey Satellite Lounge, at 11th and Pike. Their burgers may be a cut above the Deluxe, though they don't offer nearly the selection, and table service is occasional, very much like flux transfer events. So be ready with your burger choice, and for god's sake don't wait until your beer is empty to order another round.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days

Long live the Deluxe's Burgerama!
I used to go to the Satellite, but the last time I attempted it, I sat there waiting for service for ten minutes, and then the waiter came over to say that their kitchen was closed. FAIL!
The other option is Pike's Bar and Grill (12th and Pike), which I'm pretty sure has a $5 burger every day during happy hour (5-7pm).
Burgerama is wonderful. BOA burger ftw and don't sleep on their cocktails, which are extremely strong.
MvB: I think by "BBQ burger" you mean the Looziana burger, which is also quite good.
You are correct, Audrey. But if I said, "Looziana" I'd have to explain the special Looziana relish part, and so I chose to call it, slightly misleadingly, a BBQ burger. Of course, now I find myself explaining it anyway, so you see where that got me.
Speaking of deals, Monday night is two-for-one burgers at The Pub at Pipers Creek (105th & Holman) and they have a great beer selection.
I was talking to someone that used to be a waitress at the Deluxe and she would laugh at the vegetarians that would come in for the veggie burgers, but get them with bacon.
The vegetarians rationale was that bacon was so processed it really isn't meat anymore.
Another reason why it's been said that Bacon is the gateway meat.
I have to amend my earlier statement. I don't like the buns here. I eat them anyway but they're not my first choice.
@fdg
I love veggie burgers with bacon. I'm not vegetarian, but I eating cow grosses me out. Nothin' like some boca burger and pig!
Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier: don't ignore Lunchbox Laboratory, even if they aren't making bargain burgers. They are awesomely good. (And trying desperately to survive the current economy.) Put your money where your mouth is and support quality burgers!
