Soft Pretzels 26, Seahawks 7

This fall we are combining our love of the football and our dream of learning to cook by preparing a meal from the city of the Seahawks' opponent.

We’re not going to spend much time on our follow up this week. All the excitement over the past forty-eight hours has left Sunday a faint memory.

From what we can recall, we definitely broke our special touch friend’s food processor. Here is what happened: We were mixing our flour, salt, molasses, and assorted liquids, waiting for the stuff to become dough. Soon the processor started to make a noise similar to a car trying to drive up an icy hill.

That is when we saw the smoke rising from the back. Within seconds we concluded that the noise we heard probably wasn’t good. We quickly turned off everything, and tried to decide if we should fess up or just hide the processor at the back of the cupboard.

Sadly the smell of electrical fire forced our hand, and we pleaded ignorance.

Luckily by this point our dough was done, and we rolled it out into long, um, rope shapes. It took quite a toll on our upper arms; professional pretzel rollers must be ripped. We tried to shape them like that handsome Mr. Salty, however, as a child it took us forever to learn how to tie our shoes, and we had the same problems here.

The rest of the meal was without complication. Yeast makes things rise, and covering bread with melted butter and salt immediately after removing it from the oven is probably the best idea since the food processor itself.

NEXT WEEK: Seahawks @ Cubanos, 10am
