Seattlest Crashes Dems Westin Party

Seattlest was at Democratic Party Headquarters on the fourth floor of the Westin last night, surrounded by all the festivities you probably saw on the news. We were a little surprised to see people attempting to cut in the booze lines, considering we were all Democrats, so no excuse for elitism.

We walked by a smiling Mayor Nickels and shot him an icy stare. What is he so happy about? Dude’s got time to wrestle with bag taxes meanwhile people are getting shot and beaten outside Seattle’s most popular night spots on a regular basis. Obese and soft on crime are nothing to be proud about, and frankly wimpy mayors like Nickels make us Democrats look bad but that’s another rant for another day.

Outside the Westin an impromptu marching band formed a meandering parade westward through downtown as cool-headed cops looked on amused at the happy mass of voters taking to the streets. It was the best street party Seattlest had participated in Seattle since the big snow storm five years ago that shut Queen Anne Avenue down, turning it into a temporary ski hill while people took the streets of lower Queen Anne like it was Whistler Village.

The moral of the story is, every city needs impromptu and possibly alcohol-fueled street parties every now and then to turn random strangers into a joyous partying community. Of course electing competent, articulate leaders with actual brains for a change doesn’t hurt either.

I share your disdain for Nichols, but what on earth does his weight have to do with his (in)ability to do his job?
