Can't Miss It: Wednesday

THE SEARCH FOR ALANIS: Is over. She's appearing at the Paramount Theatre tonight for a show that has to be in part an extended post-election celebration. Honestly, we haven't listened to Flavors of Entanglement yet, but come on, who has? Besides, she never responds to our emails. Join the Alanis faithful and boo that one guy from Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. Van Wilder or something.

8 p.m. // Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine Street // Tickets: $36.50–$62

PuppetHeads.jpgSOCIOPATHIC PUPPETS: No, no, it's not a slam against the Bush administration. We think. It's a puppet theatre collaboration between French director Gisèle Vienne and author Dennis Cooper. "JERK is told from the vantage point of David Brooks, an accomplice to 1970s serial killer Dean Corll, who uses the puppetry skills he learned in prison to reconstruct his heinous crimes." What's not to love? But we warn you: this show contains depictions of explicit sexuality and violence--with puppets.

8 p.m. // On the Boards, corner of 1st Avenue West and Roy Street // Tickets: $24

MORE ARABIAN NIGHTS: Turns out Cornish is doing the Mary Zimmerman Arabian Nights, too, just like Balagan Theatre. Scheherezade tells her unending stories to King Shahryar, to keep from being killed, and wisely includes "cheerful vulgarity and frank sexuality." You cannot go wrong with that.

8 p.m. // Cornish's Raisbeck Performance Hall, 2015 Boren Avenue // Tickets: $10 general/$5 students & seniors

Political puppets thanks to One More Salute to Vanity, who found them on Vashon and put them carefully into our Seattlest Flickr pool for safekeeping.
