Thank you all for participating in our Seattlest Vote 2008 Polls over the last week! Though the polls were informal, they still give us a fairly good reading on how the Seattlest community will be voting today.

  • The Death With Dignity Initiative (I-1000) was defeated by a ten point margin, 135-110, with 245 of you voting. Margaret Dore wants you to know that she thinks I-1000 is a recipe for elder abuse and Seattlest wants you to know that we still think you should vote yes.
  • Seattlest readers are resoundingly voting for Sound Transit Proposition 1 at 90 percent "aye" and 10 percent "nay," with only fourteen brave souls in opposition. The real question here is if a T-shaped transit network for our T-shaped city is more or less desirable than an aesthetically and spiritually appealing "web" arrangement.
  • Discussion on the City of Seattle Propositions 1 and 2 was heated, but here are the numbers: 55 of you are voting yes on both the Pike Place Market and the parks levies, 20 are voting yes to Prop. 1 and no to Prop. 2, five are voting no to Prop. 1 but approving Prop. 2 (bah, those nature lovers), and another five are voting no to both. Toddwburley commented with a very long list of others who are supporting Prop. 2, if you're curious.
  • A whopping 186 of you voted no on Eyman's I-985, and since only 23 voted for it, we're calling that one for the Nay's by a mile. Take that, Initiative King.
  • By far, the highest number of Seattlest readers voted on the gubernatorial race. With 453 readers voting, just over a quarter said they would be voting for Dino Rossi, while 73 percent said they would be voting for Chris Gregoire. That's a solid win for Gregoire on Seattlest, but it's unlikely we'll see those kinds of numbers on CNN tonight, Bob.

  • Unfortunately, a lot of folks either did or almost did vote for Eyman's initiative by accident.
