Neighborhood News and Local Blog Roundup

  • Mid Beacon Hill Blog, as well as Beacon Hill Blog and this very blog you are reading--are all wondering if Seattle will follow Denver's example. In the Mile High city, proximity to light rail raised the value of a home. Will the same be true in the Emerald City? North Beacon Hill residents certainly hope so.
  • PhinneyWood tackles an age-old Seattle question, where does Phinney end and Greenwood begin?
  • Unhand Boogie, you West Seattle thieves!
  • MyBallard is swelling with pride, as their neighborhood was featured in the New York Times yesterday. And while we hate to rain on Ballard's parade, we have to disagree with what the NYT had to say about the neighborhood. Of Ballard and neighboring Fremont, the paper wrote, “Each is undergoing a kind of 21st-century renaissance." To our view, that's wrong--unless of course that renaissance involves cookie-cutter condos and destroying the original characters of the place.
  • Holy petty crime and accident spree, Batman! The Central District News's police scanner must have nearly overheated yesterday, because it was sure buzzing with activity.
  • Hillku tackles the other Capitol Hill in prose. As a former resident of both hills ourselves, we say they do it mighty successfully.
  • Science trumps parking again...!??! Not usually, but it's looking like the laboratory will get its way this time.
  • And last but not least on this spooky night, Halloween safety tips courtesy of the Rainier Valley Post and the SPD. On this night of haunting and gallivanting, have fun and be sure to keep your wits about you.

Methinks we have created a 'news loop'.

They did give us a hat tip!

We're trying to break through the space/time continuum, you see. News loops are only the beginning.

oops.

did not read the hat tip at the bottom...or brad's headless closely.

re: the NYT shout out to Ballmont... the rule of thumb goes that if you get a mention in the NYT, it's only a matter of time before you jump the shark. As an ex-Ballard resident, displaced due to urbanstyle cookie cutter townhomes, I daresay the shark jumpage may have already occurred. Thank goodness the CD is keeping it real.

no biggie.

we may have discovered the perfect way to drive traffic...Bwahahaha.

Can I just mention I love the way Wallingford stays Wallingford, despite being stuck between two colleges.

I mean, yeah, they're all rich and can afford to say no, but it's still a pretty cool lil' area.

FYI

The Phinney link is non-functional

It's HREF not HEF (that's the playboy mansion you're thinking about)
