Can't Miss It: Thursday

Young Mr. LincolnHOT DOGS!: Okay, so the real news here is that Wild Orchid Children are playing at the Comet tonight. They make some good booty-shakin' rock and roll, bluesy music that reminds us a little of the hill country blues, but with way more distortion and a little bit of yelling. Beastie Boys-ish, you could say. But this Seattlest is just really pumped that the hot dog guy will be out there. We've had a craving for over a month.

CAN'T GO ON WITHOUT YOU: Just imagine what life will be like without any mispronunciations to make fun of. What's going to happen to humorists after January, when we have a president-elect who is articulate and even eloquent (fingers crossed!)? Are we prepared to proceed, unsure of what or whom to make fun of? Lucky for us, the New York Review of Books has compiled a collection of essays about life after George W. Bush. It doesn't sound like it'll be very funny. But you can hear all about it tonight at Town Hall.

SPEAKING OF POLITICS AND HOT DOGS: Tonight is the last night to catch Young Mr. Lincoln at Northwest Film Forum. Lincoln would be that tall, eloquent guy from Illinois who led our country out of the Civil War. The film takes a look at his early life and political ascent. It's all fiction, of course, but it's still a stirring story.

7 p.m., 9 p.m. // Northwest Film Forum // $6 members, $9 general
