Seattlest Vote 2008 Poll: I-985

Transportation professionals say Initiative 985 will make traffic worse. Tim Eyman says, "I-985 implements common sense reforms based on recommendations from Sonntag's thorough investigation." The P-I says, "Voters should decline to join Eyman in blowing this multi-toxin poison dart at themselves." But what do you say? Yea or nay?   • Devilish logic there LarryB. Perhaps making things so bad people will be forced to use common sense in a hurried manner will get me the trains I seek.

    Tim Eyeman could propose handing out free hotdogs downtown, and people would vote against it just because his name is attached. For better or worse, that guy has poisoned the well for anything he is associated with.

    I'm sure it will pass. It sounds like common sense, but it's the wrong thing to do. Voters love these kind of initiatives that let them fling ill-informed common sense back at the experts.



    The silver lining is that it'll make Bus Rapid Transit more or less illegal, and real (i.e. train) rapid transit more likely.
