Can't Miss It: Wednesday
SWEDISH SUGAR POP: Swedish songstress Lykke Li returns to Seattle to vamp and stamp and otherwise sex up her blend of hook-tastic bubblegum and Euro-artsong. Here's her video for her single "Little Bit," but we warn you that after listening to it, you will fall deeply in love with the very next person you see. That only lasts about 15 minutes, but trust us, it can get awkward. High-energy Britpop/electronica group Friendly Fires opens. This is definitely a dance-friendly evening.
8 p.m. doors // Neumos, 925 East Pike Street // $15 adv (21+)
SUSTAINABLE ART SOCIAL: Look, an Eastside event! Over at Redmond's green office suite ThinkSpace, Drew Stone (AGS Custom Interiors) talks about how he creates art using environmentally friendly processes, while Amy Woidtke (EcoKind Design) takes on the topic of green decorating, and Hollywood Hill Vineyards provides the wine. We don't vouch for the wine. Could be good, could be bad. But they are family-owned.
5-8 p.m. // ThinkSpace, 8201 164th Avenue NE, Redmond // Free, looks like
MIND THE KIDS GAP!: Tony Wagner, co-director of the Change Leadership Group at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, believes in the power of a long title. His book, The Global Achievement Gap: Why Even Our Best Schools Don't Teach the New Survival Skills—and What We Can Do About It is proof of that. He also believes that students need better critical thinking and problem-solving skills, rather than test-taking prep. Did we mention he's from Harvard? You better listen!
7:30 p.m. // Elliott Bay event at Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Avenue // $5
