Baked Beans On Toast at Tilikum Place

Pretty much says it all. Ba Culbert and her business partner Paul Dormann, along with GM Derin Madia, all Palace Kitchen alums, have set out on their own. This morning they opened their brand new breakfast-lunch-dinner coffee-house cum bistro overlooking the Chief Sealth statue at Fifth & Cedar, named, what else, Tilikum Place Café. The beans on toast come with a fried egg and seared tomato, ten bucks. Yeah, the frou-frou Belltown stuff (cheese & charcuterie, duck confit, crab cakes) are there, too, to scare off folks looking drunkenly for the 5-Point two doors down.

For ten bucks those beans had better be damned good, and not from a can.

I had lunch there today, crab cakes, some other stuff that was healthy. It was excellent.
