Future of the Left Tonight at The Showbox - A Tragically Backwards Booking

The video above is for the song "Manchasm," by Future of the Left. Some of you might be scratching your heads wondering who they remind you of, and hopefully you came to realize they sound uncannily like Mclusky, which makes sense, as two members of the now-defunct band call FotL home now. Mclusky was loud, brash, and a bit obnoxious, but it was all self-deprecating enough that they were more smartass than asshole. Their live show was also excellent, with some of the best crowd banter Seattlest has ever heard. We're hoping this new band continues that legacy (their album is a great thrashy listen, so that's a start).

Now here's our issue with tonight's appearance. Future of the Left is the opening band. Ted Leo is fine enough, but we just don't care about him. Against Me! interests us even less. So we'll gladly go to the Showbox (at the Market), but we're planning on an early departure. If you're heading down, be sure to show up early for Future of the Left - they're the real highlights here. Here's to hoping there's a headlining tour in the works at a smaller venue.
