Dear Barack Obama For President Campaign

Seattlest has a brilliant idea for your re-election bid in four years. Can you do us a favor and create a check box on your website, next to where we might provide our email address when we donate or sign up for an event? We would like that check box to read "I am an enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama who is also a dedicated voter. You have my vote. Definitely. Please spend your money on mail-bombing undecideds, rather than me." This would, of course, be accompanied by a check box reading, "I'm thinking about voting for Barack Obama, but I'm not sold. Please email me every ten minutes." We're just saying we'd like to have a choice there. Speaking of choices...have you guys voted yet, or what? What are you waiting for?

  • I normally love voting in person too, but with the governor's race being so close, I didn't want to risk it somehow getting messed up now that my polling place is 5 miles from my work.

Seriously, five miles scares me. I'm normally within a mile of work and home....

    And that, arborheights, is paranoid.

@ Ozmafan: ME, TOO! I freakin' love voting in person. I love the cute little old poll workers. I love the bounce of civic pride. I love seeing who else is voting. I love participating in a national event. I just LOVE it. I almost went absentee this year but of all years... I just couldn't miss the opportunity to Stake My Claim on November 4. Obama, this vote's for you.

I walked over to "the ugliest building in downtown Seattle" on Monday and slipped my ballot into the ballot box, thus avoiding possible shenanigans in the mail system. Who, me paranoid? You bet

Seriously, guys. Just remove yourself at the website, or filter your emails by the word "Obama" or the domain "barackobama.com" into an Election folder. It's not that hard.

I like getting campaign emails, personally, because I am interested in keeping track of the message and seeing how they choose to reach voters. They remind me to donate and volunteer, and there are only 11 more days they can ask for your support, financial and otherwise.

I posted my mail-in ballot this morning, which means that I don't need to be told how nifty keen the candidates are anymore, thank you very much.

Although I'm obviously going to keep watching things. This has been very compelling and eerily entertaining. I mean, seriously, how many people have seen most/all of the debates this time around compared with the last few elections (say, back to Clinton/Bush in 92?)

  • barrack

I think it's nice that they're keeping me abreast of what the campaign is up to. It is a lot, I agree, but it's pretty easy (at least in gmail) to filter out those emails and have them skip my inbox altogether.

Saturday, Nov 1, btw, is the only weekend day that you can early vote in person at the King County Elections Office in Renton. The hours will be 9am-3pm.

  • ozmafan

what am i waiting for? election day, of course!

is ANYONE else voting in person on november 4? i think it's our last chance...sad...

  • herbisara

My ballot is on the kitchen table, half finished. I had to take a break after reading about Measure 1000. Heavy duty.

  • Seriously, umpteen people have complained about this.

Luckily, I only give money to candidates with little to no hope, like Dennis Kucinich.
