Can't Miss It: Thursday

GENUINELY COOL, ARTSY FARTSY NIGHT: Go to the Filter release party at the Richard Hugo House tonight for readings, hobnob opps with writerly folks, and performances by Awesome!. The literary magazine celebrates the release of its second issue, and if you haven't seen this work of art yet, you may not know: this is a beautiful and well-crafted literary magazine, not only in content but in construction.

PRE-HALLOWEEN PARTAY: Local bands The Raggedy Anns, Wild Orchid Children, and Doctor Doctor will guide the willing into the darkness at Chop Suey for an "It's Almost Halloween" event tonight. Why not? That crispness in the air lately has meant we've been ready to trick or treat for weeks now.

GET DRUNK, LISTEN TO THE CURE: Nectar, one of our current favorite venues (marred only by its location in the outpost called Fremont), hosts a 4:13 Dream listening party during Happy Hour. The album is The Cure's thirteenth studio album. Nectar's calendar mentions free alcohol and The Cure giveaways from Geffen Records. Aww yeah!
