GET OUT THE MUSIC: Our brothers and sisters over at LAist recently interviewed singer-songwriter Amie Miriello. She's on the rise these days, after leaving her band Dirtie Blonde and striking out solo. She'll be opening for one of Austin's finest, Bob Schneider. He has some of the most heartbreaking songs we know. But then, he also has songs about bar fights and monkeys. So, you know, there's balance.

GET OUT THE VOTE: When we headed over to upcoming.yahoo.com this morning to scope the scene and find out about what you people can't miss today, the entire list was full of Get Out the Vote efforts. We can't argue with that. Election day is precisely two weeks from today, and the race is tightening up (Obama's lead is at six percent, according to CNN's poll of polls). Don't let this thing slip away. Let's finish it, people.

GET OUT THE OIL: This is a timely discussion to attend after your Get Out the Vote efforts, should you choose to participate. Antonia Juhasz will be talking about her new book, The Tyranny of Oil: the World’s Most Powerful Industry, and What We Must Do To Stop It. How to deal with oil, energy, and fuel will be one among many very major decisions the next president will make, and everyone's got an idea about how to deal. We're going to guess that Juhasz isn't going to advocate domestic offshore drilling, but we could be wrong. Turn out tonight to find out.
