- Central District News has a post on "the CD by the numbers," which uses recent census data to shed light on just who calls the Central District home. Some of the information didn't surprise us. The highest average income in the CD is in Madison Valley--you don't say!
- So glad to see the DEA still drives Hummers to rallies at Catholic elementary schools despite the fact that we are in the midst of a global economic crisis and with the ever-rising costs of gasoline. Since the drug war doesn't cost us all enough already, the DEA's grand finale was landing a DEA helicopter on the school's playground. Because you know, Catholic elementary schools are a breeding ground for pre-adolescent crackheads.
- The Belltowner and North Dakota State University wonders if people would utilize a public bike share program if offered one. Hey, it works in Europe--why not here?
- Aww yeah, the Seattle Police department has totally become 2.0 and created their very own blog.
- Since the rest of our sports teams aren't winning, we say cheer on these fellows from former Ballard landmark Oddvar's as they compete in a vintage car race across Mexico. Knowing these guys are the keepers of Oddvar's flame (and thus the flame-keepers of 70% of the old Volvos on Seattle roads) gives us complete confidence that they can win the race.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the hummers and am an avid bike guy, but... "The ever-rising cost of gasoline"? Have you seen the gas prices lately?
Yes Bilco, I've seen the momentarily decreasing monetary cost of gasoline.
However, my sentence says "the ever rising costs of gasoline." I pluralized it to imply that the cost of gas is much more than monetary.
Very shrewd answer, abbey - you should be part of the debates!
For sure, the costS of gasoline are many, many and we pay out of pocket only a small fraction of the costs. You win
I sat down with a guy at work regarding a bike-share program he is trying to get off the ground. They are getting one together in Portland and depending on its success/faliure, will launch a Seattle program.
Think Zipcar, but with bikes. The guy had a lot of great ideas. I just hope it flies.
I think it may work, but slowly and small. I know my lady would use it. Hell, my work has one, but I always forget because of mad marketing
And Abbey, I went to Catholic School.
We loved the crack.
when did the "CD" go all the way to Lake Washington? Last I checked it was generally referred to as Leschi...etc.
