Can't Miss It: Tuesday

BAILAMOS: Yes, yes, today is bright and sunny and lovely outside. But, the rains are coming, we're certain of it. And, if you want to beat the winter bummers this year, there are few things that could light up your life more than dancing all about. So, why not take a dance class through the UW's Experimental College? Tonight kicks off a nine-week class at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, where you can learn Cuban folkloric dance. Fun!

Tuesdays, Oct. 14-Dec. 9 // 6:30-8 p.m. // Fremont Abbey Arts Center // $95 UW students, $110 general public
Spring Awakening
AXIS OF EVIL TRAVEL: Our local doobie-loving traveling man Rick Steves just got back from Iran, where everyone hates America and wants to blow up the world, right? Anyway, he'll be hunkering down at Town Hall tonight with some slides from his travels, ready to tell you all about the evil monsters that roam Tehran looking for something to destroy with nuclear bombs. Or maybe just talking about the peaceful Iranian folks who are just trying to find some happiness in their lives. Or both. There's only one way to find out which he'll be focusing on (we're gonna guess the latter): show up for the talk.

7:30 p.m. // Town Hall // $10

THE CHILDREN ARE HAVING SEX: Is it fair to make a John Waters reference to talk about Broadway, now that Hairspray has taken over the world? Anyway, Seattlest will be heading down to the Paramount this evening for opening night of Spring Awakening—the new musical that Tony loves so much. The tagline they're using to advertise the play is "Broadway may never be the same," which we think sets the bar pretty high. We'll be sure to report back tomorrow. But if you love theater as much as we do, maybe you should join us for opening night.

Oct. 14-19, showtimes are here // Paramount Theater // $22-70
