THE LO DON'T STOP: Camp Lo is two emcees out of the Bronx--Geechi Suede and Sonny Cheeba--who deliver consistently fly, catchy tracks to the masses. Their latest single is called "Lumdi" (listen here), which means something approximating "sexually attractive female." Gonna be a packed show, and a perfect choice if you want to dance and kick off your weekend with some superlative hiphop.
9:30 p.m., Friday // War Room, 722 E Pike // $10 // 21+
WHEN LIGHTWEIGHT IS A POSITIVE: The Laptop Battle lights up at Nectar tonight! It's a beat battle of sorts, but it's all different kinds of music--from electronica to hiphop to what ever the contestants think will wow people the most in three minutes--and the contestants have to fit their laptop and all of their gear in a 2' x 2' square. Totally fun.
9 p.m., Friday // Nectar Lounge, 412 N. 36th St // $8
PINKO HOLIDAY: The idea of a one-man show about vacationing in communist territory strikes us as funny from the very outset. Mark Siano's creation: "Siano will be saved from near death on the Mekong river by a 6-year old Laotian girl, he will flirt with deadly poison in Vietnam, and he will avoid arrest while notoriously smuggling a protest sign past Chinese security at the Beijing Olympics." (At least some of this stuff actually happened, apparently.) Tickets here, or take your chances and buy them at the door.
8 p.m., Friday and Saturday // Rendezvous Room, 2322 2nd Ave // $10 // 21+
WHAT WILL LOVE SOUND LIKE IN THE FUTURE?: Find out at local rockers A Gun That Shoots Knives' cd release party at Chop Suey this weekend, with rockin' sets from The Trucks (soon to disband) and the awesomely well-dressed "Awesome." AGTSK's new album is called Future Of Love, and from what we've heard, it's a good one.
9 p.m., Saturday // Chop Suey, 1325 E Madison // $8 adv // 21+

Tuesdays are Muppet Days
