Downtown Bank Robbery

According to the P-I, traffic is currently blocked off on Third between Cherry and Spring as police search for the man who robbed a bank near the Columbia Tower an hour ago. They're looking for a white man in his 30s (read: half of downtown's daytime population), but Seattlest wishes them luck! We'll keep you posted, and let us know if you hear anything more or what you're seeing if you work near the area.

The robbery was right outside my building (Dexter Horton) and we, along with all the Pegasus coffee patrons, were barricaded in the building for more than hour by yellow police tape.

Apparently it was a false alarm.

The teller thought the man handed her a note saying "Dillinger", and hit the panic button.

In fact, the man at the window, was only Kerry Killinger, making the rounds at local banks, handing out resumes like he does every Tuesday morning.

Curiously, the robber asked the teller to stuff the cash directly into a mattress.

Yeah, and trust the white guy in his 30s to make this genius decision. "Well, I hear the banks are failing. I think I will rob one and walk out with a bag full of IOUs."
