Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, Sept. 26-28

POLITICS JUNKIE: The jury's still out on whether or not McCain is going to display how capable he is of handling politics and governing at the same time (i.e. the job of the president) by showing up for tonight's debate in Mississippi. But, the Presidential Debate Commission will be there, a giant pool of reporters will be there, and his opponent Barack Obama will be there ready and willing to turn the whole thing into a town hall meeting if that's what has to happen. Oh, the drama of the whole thing! Tune in at your own home, at your friends' houses, or at a number of locations around town that will be holding watch parties. (UPDATE: McCain has decided to show up, after all. We'll refrain from commenting and leave that all up to you.)
Friday night, 6 p.m. // All Over Seattle // Free, unless you're drinking, and then it's up to you
COUCH POTATO: If sitting around tonight, watching CNN—whether it's a debate or an hours-long Obama-only town hal meeting—isn't enough couch potatoing for your tastes, never fear. Ten homes around town will be opening their doors to film enthusiasts for the first annual Couch Fest Film Festival. It's your opportunity to sit on the couches of strangers and watch some of what the promoters are calling "grand short films." These include, among other things, Charlie Rose interviewing himself, Bush playing soccer, and instructions for how to behave if someone's assassinated. So, lighthearted fun!
Saturday, every hour on the hour // All over Seattle // $10 at the door

MUSEUM RAT: Seattlest loves a good museum day, and we really need to take better advantage of our local museums. Lucky for us, and others like us, this weekend will see Free Museum Day. No, the museums have not all been gathered up and sent to Guantanamo for their socialist promotion of communist ideas. They're still here. You just don't have to pay to get into them. Seattle's free museums tomorrow include the EMP, Frye, Henry, Log House Museum (there is such a thing?), SAM, SAAM, Museum of Flight, and the Wing Luke Asian Museum. You must first go here, though, and turn your information over to the feds before you get a free pass. And here's a full list of participating Washington museums, in case you're feeling wacky and want to drive to Goldendale, or something.
Saturday, all day long // All over Washington // Free!
BUNGALOW BUNNY: (Bungalow Bunny, you ask? Just go with it.) Town Hall is hosting a weekend series of Arts and Crafts lectures/an antiques show/tour of Ravenna's bungalows. What? Yeah. Seems like a random assortment of disparate elements to tie together, but we're all for this sort of autumnal synchronicity. Also, this is apparently something that Historic Seattle has done annually for the last 11 years—a feat, for sure.
Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. // Town Hall // $10 general, $5 students and seniors
