Football Friday: Moo Goo Boo Hoo Edition

"Football Cavity," by Seattlest Flickr contributor jaycoxfilm
Since our teams remain winless this season, Seattlest has decided to do the only logical thing to get us out of this funk...Eat! During Sunday home games, over 67,000 people flood into Qwest Field, and many of those fans stop for lunch along the way. Seattlest gets tired of bar food and $8 stadium dogs, so we asked the guys at MSG150, the International District lunch blog, to help us out with some new suggestions. We sat down with MSG150 last week while they reviewed a new restaurant in the ID.
Seattlest: The Uwajimaya food court is always packed with Seahawk fans before games. There must be better options within the International District, right?
MSG150: The food court is simply 13 mediocre places in a row. That's the reason we started the MSG150 blog, to vary out of the ordinary and try some new places.
Seattlest: Where's the best place to eat if you are a fan with seats in the upper deck, probably on a budget, looking for a good bargain?
MSG150: The Vietnamese sandwiches at Sun Bakery or Sweet and Fresh Bakery. For under $3, you get a great sub sandwich that you can take into the game.
Seattlest: What if you scored some posh club seats, and you are looking to make a great impression with a date or client before the game?
MSG150: Probably J Sushi, for the whole experience of the place. It's nice looking, colorful and they have a good sake and wine list.
(More food options, plus predictions...AFTER THE JUMP!)
Seattlest: Best pre-game meal for a kicker who might be vegetarian?
MSG150: Hands down, Vegetarian Bistro. It's really good and it's REAL veg. No random bits of pork wandering around in the food. Can't recommend enough.
Seattlest: What about a 350-lb lineman looking for a some serious amounts of food?
MSG150: You could just have them wheel up a dim sum cart at Jade Garden and park it next to the table, and just keep eating. If you are a lineman, you don't really care about the cost.
Seattlest: Finally, you bump into a group of visiting team fans before the game. They ask you for a recommendation, and you secretly hope they'll get food poisoning.
MSG150: (without hesitation) Maxang Deli! The clientele is totally destitute and the food is equally bad.
This week:
WSU vs. Portland State (4 p.m. Saturday, FSN, 1090AM)
The scheduling gods have smiled on the hapless Cougs, offering up Division II Portland State at just the right time. First-year coach Paul Wulff has promised lineup changes galore as the team looks for its first win of the year. Prediction: Cougs 21, PSU 14.
Seahawks vs. Rams (1 p.m. Sunday, FOX, 710AM)
With the Seahawks' injury list filled with more carnage than last week's episode of True Blood, here come the Rams, who may be the worst team in the NFL. After last week's debacle with the Niners, look for the Hawks to unload on the Rams. Former Hawk kicker Josh Brown returns to town. ESPN wonk (and Kent native) Kenny Mayne will raise the 12th Man flag. Prediction: Win-starved Sea Fowl 28, Goats 6.
Don't like football? Well, don't bother with the M's. They've been swept in their last two series and have called it a season. But the Storm take the floor tonight in LA as they open their best-of-three playoff series with the Sparks.

Thoroughly enjoyable post, Brad! Sandwiches: everyone's a winner.
